$3,699.00
Most electric commuter bikes at this price bracket are either heavy aluminum rigs with decent components, or they're ultra-light frames with the motor and battery specced down to hit a number. The Aerolife doesn't follow either pattern. Full carbon frame, full carbon fork, Shimano M6100 drivetrain, TEKTRO hydraulics, carbon handlebar, carbon crankarm, Schwalbe tires, and a KS dropper post — on a commuter bike. At $3,699, that's a spec list worth paying attention to.
It's built for people who ride every day and want the bike to actually perform, not just get them there. Here's what that means in practice.
The Frame: Full Carbon, Not Just the Fork
The distinction matters more than it might seem. A lot of bikes at this price have aluminum frames with a carbon fork tacked on for weight savings and marketing copy. The Aerolife runs a full carbon fiber frame — aerodynamic tube shaping, 27.5" wheel size, 148×12mm thru-axle rear, UDH derailleur hanger, and fully internal cable routing throughout. The fork is also full carbon, 100×12mm thru-axle, Flat Mount, with the same FICR internal routing.
What this actually changes on a daily commute: the bike absorbs road vibration differently than aluminum. Over a 10-mile round trip you won't notice much. Over a 20-mile round trip on rough pavement, carbon dampening becomes real. The aerodynamic shaping isn't just aesthetic either — at sustained urban speeds, tube shape has a measurable effect on effort. And at 50 lbs, this is not a light bike, but it's light for what it is: a full carbon e-bike with a 720Wh battery and a mid-drive motor.
Motor: Same OKAWA AP70, Same Reason It Matters
The Aerolife shares its motor with the Cougar — OKAWA AP70, 48V 500W continuous, 750W peak, 120 N·m of torque. Mid-drive, torque-sensing. On a commuter this matters for different reasons than on a gravel bike. You're not climbing 15% gravel pitches; you're accelerating from stops, navigating traffic, and dealing with urban grades that are often steeper than they look. The torque sensor makes the assist feel proportional and natural rather than lurching, which is what you want when you're threading through intersections.
Class 2, 20 mph cap, five assist levels.
Battery and Range
Samsung 21700 cells, 48V 15Ah, 720Wh. Same pack as the Cougar — UL2271 certified, IPX5 rated. For a daily commuter, 720Wh is generous. Most urban commutes are 5–15 miles each way, which means you're looking at multiple days between charges at moderate assist. Realistic range in commuting use with stops and starts is 55–70 miles; the 75-mile figure is achievable in easier conditions. Charges in 6–8 hours via DC2.1, and the display has a USB-C output port for topping up devices on the go.
Drivetrain: Shimano M6100, Not a House Brand
This is where the Aerolife separates itself from a lot of competition at this price. Shimano M6100 is Deore 12-speed — a well-tested, widely serviced groupset with a strong reputation for reliability under daily use. The cassette runs 10-51T, which is a wide range: enough low gears to climb anything you'd encounter in a city, enough high gears to stay efficient at 18+ mph on a flat stretch. The chain is also Shimano M6100. Shifting is crisp, parts are available at any decent shop, and service intervals are predictable.
The crankarm is SAMOX carbon fiber, 175mm. Carbon cranks on an e-bike at this price point is unusual — they're lighter than aluminum and they dampen pedaling vibration over time. The chainring is SAMOX 40T, which combined with the 10-51T cassette gives you plenty of range in both directions.
Brakes
TEKTRO HD-R285. 2-piston hydraulic, flat mount, paired with RT160-52 6-bolt rotors at 160mm front and rear. TEKTRO is a Taiwanese manufacturer with a long track record in hydraulic disc brakes — the HD-R285 is one of their more refined commuter-oriented calipers, with consistent modulation and low maintenance requirements. Not as flashy as Shimano XT hydraulics, but appropriate for the use case and reliably serviceable. The 6-bolt rotor standard is universal; finding replacements is never a problem.
Cockpit: Full Carbon Handlebar
The handlebar is full carbon fiber — 231mm rise, 43° backsweep. That geometry puts you in an upright, comfortable position for urban riding without being so upright that you lose control authority. Carbon handlebars reduce vibration transmission compared to aluminum, which matters on longer daily rides. The ergonomic silicone grips are custom-designed for the Aerolife and reduce hand fatigue over multi-hour rides. This is the kind of detail that doesn't show up in spec comparisons but affects how you feel after 45 minutes of commuting.
Dropper Post
KS 860i with the KS Westy 2.0 remote. 125mm or 150mm travel depending on size, air spring, 30.9mm. On a commuter bike, a dropper post is more useful than it sounds — stop-and-go riding, mounting and dismounting throughout the day, varied terrain. Being able to drop the saddle for a tricky intersection or a quick stop without getting off and adjusting is a quality-of-life upgrade that's easy to undervalue until you have it.
Tires: Schwalbe, Not Generic
Schwalbe 27.5×2.15". Schwalbe is the standard by which most commuter tires get measured. Their Marathon line specifically is built around low rolling resistance and puncture protection — two things that matter enormously for daily riding. Getting a flat on your commute is not an inconvenience, it's a problem. The 27.5×2.15" size gives you a comfortable contact patch for urban surfaces without the rolling drag of a wider MTB tire.
What's Included
The Aerolife comes with front and rear mudguards — not sold separately, just included. For a commuter bike, this is the right call. Riding in wet conditions without fenders is unpleasant in a way that's hard to overstate. The integrated LED lighting system (12V 3.5W front and rear) covers you for low-light riding without needing to bolt on an aftermarket light. A rear rack is available as an optional add-on for $79.90 if you want cargo capacity.
Honest Assessment
At $3,699, the Aerolife is a serious daily driver specced at a level that typically costs significantly more. The full carbon frame and fork, Shimano M6100 drivetrain, carbon cockpit components, and Schwalbe tires are all above average for the price point. The tradeoff is weight — 50 lbs is not light, and if you need to carry the bike up stairs regularly, that's worth knowing. The 27.5" wheel size is also worth noting if you're coming from a 700c road background; the handling is slightly different, and tire selection is a bit narrower. Neither is a dealbreaker for most urban riders, but both are worth factoring into your decision.
