The Wildlife is a different animal from everything else in the AMZcycle catalog — literally. It's a cargo bike: 20" fat-tire format, 750W hub motor with 1200W peak, 347 lb total payload capacity, and a frame that's TÜV certified for torsional strength under load. This isn't a commuter bike you happen to be able to carry groceries on. It's built from the ground up for hauling, with the motor, frame geometry, and brake spec all tuned around what happens when you're running 80 lbs of cargo and a rider on urban terrain.

At $2,399, it's one of the more affordable cargo e-bikes with a serious spec — and the 4-piston TEKTRO brakes and KS 860i dropper post are details you don't usually see at this price point in the cargo category.

The Motor

48V 750W hub motor with an 80 N·m torque rating and 1200W peak output. Hub drive — not mid-drive. For a cargo application this is the right call. Hub motors are simpler, more durable under sustained load conditions, and don't put additional stress on the drivetrain when you're climbing a hill with 80 lbs of cargo. They're also lower maintenance; there's no motor interface with your bottom bracket threading to wear out over time.

The 1200W peak is meaningful when you're fully loaded — you need headroom for acceleration from stops and hill starts with a heavy load, not just cruise power. The 80 N·m torque rating is appropriate for the use case. Controlled by a MOTINOVA SC102A controller at 48V.

The Battery

Samsung 21700 cells, 48V 14.7Ah, 706Wh. UL2271 certified (which is a legitimately important spec on a cargo bike — UL2271 covers the kind of thermal events that can happen when a battery takes physical load stress repeatedly). IPX5 waterproofed. In typical cargo use with a loaded bike and moderate assist, expect 50–60 miles of range. The 62-mile spec is achievable in lighter conditions. Charges in 6–8 hours via DC2.1. The 3.5" LED display covers speed, battery level, and assist settings.

One note: the frame is UL2849 certified at the system level — that certification covers the complete e-bike electrical system, which is more comprehensive than battery certification alone. For a cargo bike that may be stored indoors, this matters.

The Frame

AL6061 T6 aluminum, 20" wheel size, 175×12mm rear thru-axle. The frame passed multiple TÜV safety tests for torsional strength — the kind of certification that specifically addresses what happens to a frame geometry under heavy asymmetric loads. The extended rear design balances cargo capacity with riding stability. Low-step geometry makes mounting and dismounting straightforward across a range of rider heights (5'3"–6'2").

The front fork is also AL6061 T6 with an air spring — 100mm of travel on a 135×10mm QR axle. On a 20" cargo bike carrying load, 100mm of fork travel is genuinely useful; it absorbs road impact that would otherwise translate directly through the frame to the cargo.

Brakes: 4-Piston TEKTRO

TEKTRO HD-M535 up front (4-piston, Post Mount), TEKTRO HD-E3940 in the rear (4-piston, Post Mount, with integrated power cut-off sensor). Front rotor: 180mm. Rear rotor: 160mm. Four-piston calipers on a cargo bike are not optional equipment — they're a functional necessity. When you're loaded with 80 lbs of cargo and descending a slope, 2-piston brakes are marginal. The 4-piston setup gives you the stopping force and heat management needed for sustained braking under load. The rear power cut-off sensor cuts motor assist when you brake, which is the right behavior under load.

Drivetrain

S-Ride D200 7-speed shifter with S-Ride M200 7-speed rear derailleur. 11–34T cassette with a 42T chainring up front. KMC e9 chain — purpose-built for e-bike torque applications, with reinforced pins and plates compared to standard bicycle chain. For a cargo bike doing urban duty, 7-speed with this cassette range is the practical choice — enough range for the grades you'll encounter, simple enough to be reliable under load and easy to service. Hub motors work best with simpler, more durable drivetrain setups anyway.

Tires

Veetireco E-Huntsman, 20×4.0". Fat tires on a cargo bike serve a real purpose — the extra contact patch improves stability under load, the volume allows for lower pressures that absorb road shock better, and the footprint helps when you're maneuvering a loaded bike at low speeds. 4.0" is proper fat tire width; this isn't a cosmetic choice. KENDA 20×3.5/4.0" tubes. Both aluminum hubs are 32H front, 36H rear — more spokes in the rear for load distribution.

The Dropper Post

KS 860i, 30.9mm, 125mm travel, air spring, with KS Westy 2.0 remote. Getting a KS dropper on a cargo bike at $2,399 is the kind of spec detail that tells you something about how this bike was thought through. On a step-through cargo bike where you're stopping frequently and dismounting regularly, being able to drop the saddle height instantly makes a real difference to the mounting experience — especially when the bike is loaded.

What's Included

The Wildlife comes with a front fender and rear rack included in the box — not optional add-ons. For a cargo bike, having the rack from the start is the right call. An optional front cargo platform ($64.99) and rear rack upgrade ($79.99) are available as accessories if you need more carrying capacity. Kickstand is available separately ($38.99).

The Honest Case

At 81.1 lbs, the Wildlife is heavy. It's a cargo bike — that weight is the price of the reinforced frame, fat tires, large battery, and full cargo spec. If you need to carry it up stairs regularly, it's not the right bike. If you're using it for what it's designed for — grocery runs, school pickup, urban errands, short-distance hauling — the weight is parked most of the time and the bike does exactly what it's supposed to do. The UL2849 system certification and TÜV frame approval are the kind of validations that matter when you're trusting a bike with children or significant cargo loads.
