Description

Lewis LV4: Radial Precision, Enduro Power

The Lewis LV4 is a masterclass in minimalist CNC engineering, taking the lightweight DNA of the LV2 and evolving it into a gravity-capable powerhouse. Unlike traditional brakes that use a horizontal cylinder, the LV4 utilizes a unique Radial (Vertical) Master Cylinder. By orienting the piston perpendicular to the handlebar, Lewis has created a system that minimizes flex and maximizes direct feedback, giving you a stiffer, snappier bite that connects you instantly to the trail.

Designed for Trail, Enduro, and E-MTB riders, the LV4 combines this "skeletonized" ultra-light lever body with a massive 4-piston caliper. The result is a system that offers the raw power of a downhill brake with the clean aesthetics and low weight (~597g/pair) of an XC setup—without the boutique price tag.

The Engineering Edge:

  • Radial Master Cylinder (The "Vertical" Advantage): The "LV" stands for Lewis Vertical. This radial design creates a more direct leverage ratio than traditional axial brakes. It reduces "squish" in the system, providing a firm, immediate engagement that aggressive riders love.

  • Asymmetric 4-Piston Power: The caliper houses a dual-diameter piston setup (2 x 14mm and 2 x 17mm Stainless Steel). The smaller pistons engage first for smooth modulation, while the larger pistons provide the raw clamping force needed for heavy braking.

  • Dual Adjustability: Customize your cockpit to perfection. Features Tool-Free Reach Adjustment (dial) to set your lever distance, and Bite Point Adjustment (via 2mm Allen key—thumb tool included) to determine exactly how far you pull before the pads lock up.

  • Ultra-Smooth Action: Unlike cheap brakes that use bushings, the LV4 lever pivots on 4 sealed cartridge bearings. This eliminates "slop" and provides a feather-light lever feel that reduces arm pump on long descents.

  • Rigid CNC Construction: Milled from a single block of aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum, the caliper is incredibly stiff, ensuring all your finger power goes into stopping the bike rather than flexing the brake body.

Mechanic's Note (Pad Compatibility): The Lewis LV4 uses the Hope Tech 3 E4 brake pad shape (Lewis Model LP-37). This means you can easily find replacement pads, sintered, organic, or ceramic, at almost any bike shop worldwide.

Configuration:

These brakes are sold in the standard configuration:

  • Left Lever: Front Brake (90cm Hose)
  • Right Lever: Rear Brake (160cm Hose)

Note: The levers feature a "Flip-Flop" design. If you ride "Moto Style" (Right/Front), you can easily unbolt and swap the hoses to reverse the configuration.
